Law of Superposition, What Is It?
The law of superposition is chronological order of rock. This is the way to find out which one is the oldest and which one is the youngest. The youngest is normally closer to the top and the oldest is toward the bottom. Sometimes, magma rises and burns a hole through the hard rock. This lets magma come up through the rock and harder to form a new layer of rock. You might think that the youngest rock would be on the top, but in this case the hardened magma that came up through the rock is the youngest.
